National Seeing Eye Dog Day is on January 29th – a great day to honor dogs who guide and those who train them.
A local organization that is dear to our hearts is Leader Dogs for the Blind. Leader Dogs for the Blind was founded in 1939 by three Detroit-area Lions Clubs members. The organization empowers people who are blind, visually impaired, or Deaf-Blind with skills for independent travel.
Leader Dogs for the Blind offers six programs that include Guide Dog Program, Accelerated O&M Training, Deaf-Blind Guide Dog Training, GPS Technology, Summer Experience Camp, and O&M Seminars for Professionals and Universities Program.
We want to wish a very Yappy Birthday to all seeing eye dogs! To learn more about Leader Dogs for the Blind, click here!
