How to Ease Your Dogs Anxiety During Fireworks

squirrel stuffins.jpgWe love Kongs, so when the Squirrel Dude was manufactured, we had to get onboard. I mean for crying out loud it’s an indestructible dog toy that looks like a squirrel…talk about a match made in heaven!

These mental stimulation toys are great for anxious dogs, rough chewers and anyone that enjoys a tasty treat. When the Fourth of July festivities start and you need a distraction for your dog, reach for your Squirrel Dude and get stuffin’!

So…what exactly do you stuff inside of said Squirrel? The beauty of it is, it really can be anything you want. Squirrel un-stuffers have various skill levels so make choices based on what you know your dog is capable of. You don’t want to make it too hard and have them lose interest, likewise you don’t want them to finish in 30 seconds. It’s important to understand the concept of the Squirrel and the unique Squirrel anatomy (as outlined above).

Always consult your veterinarian before introducing a new food to your dog. Common items used for Squirrel Stuffin’s include but are not limited to:

  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Organic baby food
  • Canned Pumpkin
  • Canned dog food
  • Peanut Butter
  • Vegetables (minced or mashed)
  • Frozen banana
  • Apple chunks
  • Dog treats
  • Cheerios
  • Kibble (your dogs food)
  • Cheese

Mix and match your stuffin’s and have a happy Camper during the Fourth of July! Ask us about our Squirrel Dudes (available in various sizes) for sale in our retail shop.

*Reminder-anything you put inside a Squirrel Dude or Kong will come out as your dog chews, so be mindful of the colors of the items you stuff in if you’re worried about your carpet or furniture.
