Our friends at Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society were able to find FUR-ever homes for two Cats and seven Dogs during our Homeward Hound event!
Congrats to all those who were able to add to their furry families and make it official and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for everyone else who came to meet the Cats and Dogs available for adoption.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and it takes even more to provide shelter, safety and sustenance for the thousands of homeless pets our community sees each year. Since January 1, 2015, The Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society has taken in 89 cats and dogs and have found 72 of them loving FUR-ever homes.
These helpless animals come from a variety of places; from the streets and some surrendered by owners who can no longer provide care for their pets. Because of the endless scenarios that bring these pets to our local rescues there is no telling how long the funds will last. Aside from the basic veterinary check up that every dog and cat goes through, some must be treated for diseases like heartworm, some are pregnant (which brings even more mouths to feed and care to provide) and some require extreme medical procedures such as amputation.
Millions of dogs and cats are euthanized each year due to over run shelters, lack of funding and people choosing retail over rescue.
Our hearts go out to every animal in need and we’re happy to provide our friends at the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society with the use of our Training Center for their adoption events and the events we offer to help support their very important mission.
