Adding To Your Family…Home For The Howl-I-Days

The holidays are a fantastic time to add a furry family member to your pack. However, it’s important to remember that pets require a great deal of care, time,  and responsibility long after the holiday decorations are put away.

If you’re thinking of getting a new pup, consider these factors so you can choose the best pet for your family.8_w208_h237_s1_PL15_PCffffff

Different breeds have different characteristics:

Consider the energy of your household, the size of dog you can handle and how much exercise you are able to provide.

Dog’s age should correlate with ages in household:

The new pet should fit the current physical capabilities of the caretakers, thinking about what the next 10-15 years will bring.

Time and energy levels:

All pets require exercise, training and supervision, so be sure you have adequate time and energy to devote to your pet.

Cost must be considered:

In addition to the upfront cost of bringing your new pet home, costs such as veterinary care, obedience classes, food, grooming, toys and supplies can add up quickly.

If you’re looking to add to your pack, stop by our Training Center on Saturday, December 6th to see if our friends at the Grosse Pointe Animal Adoption Society have a four legged friend for your family!
