We had a great time at our Bow-Wow-Ween party with about 2 dozen canines in their costumes and some of their parents joining them to complete the look.
The dogs stepped up to a spooky cauldron to bob for treats, with one of our squatty body contestants, Artie, bobbing like a champ (much to his Mom’s dismay). Artie has perfect manners so we’re blaming it on the Cowboy, clearly he was a bad influence.
We saw a lot of great “sit”s, a few “shakes” and even a “roll over” and a “dance”. Fitzy, the hipster Corgi, threw in a “high five” which was no small feat considering his tiny legs and Siberian Husky Bolt (the Cheerleader) had his paw ready for a continual shake as soon as he tasted his first treat.
All the dogs enjoyed meeting and greeting and even enjoyed showing off their costumes to each other.
Humans participated in the costume contest as well, completing the dogs ensemble. Hollis brought “hot mess” Zelda as a bus and they made the perfect combo of hippies.
We saw a lot of “sports fans” including a hot dog with extra mustard on the side paired with a Red Wings fan.
We were happy to welcome our friends at the Detroit Dog Rescue, who couldn’t resist showing off Trixie, one of their adoptable dogs who was dressed as Eeyore, although, she was the happiest Eeyore we’ve ever seen! Trixie made fast friends with Zelda and snuggled right up to Zelda’s Mom. Perhaps it’s a family in the making?
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success and all those who participated in the festivities. To learn more about the Detroit Dog Rescue and meet some of their adoptable dogs, head over to the mega adoption event tomorrow, Saturday from 11-4.
To make up for all the tasty treats we indulged in yesterday our next Yappy Hour will be Bark-a-licious and feature Jill Tack from the Pet Beastro with information on pet health and nutrition. Stay tuned for more details!
