February 22nd is National Walking the Dog Day

In celebration of National Walking the Dog Day, Camp Bow Wow would like to share with you some pertinent information about dog walking.

Here’s something to consider: Dogs spend an average of 6-9 hours alone, cooped up in a room each day. That is a lot of down time for a pup, young or old. Compare your dog to a young child. Would you expect them to stay cooped up all day, only to go outside for 5-10 minutes a couple times a day to do their business? No Way!!! Dogs needs love, attention and exercise just like humans, not only for their physical health, but also for mental health.

Dog boredom leads to many things, like chewing things that most likely aren’t toys and overeating – which could eventually lead to high blood pressure and high cholesterol. The counselors at Camp Bow Wow suggest taking your dog for a 30 minute walk each day to relieve pet stress and boredom.  If you cannot find the time or are unable to walk your dog, give us a call at Camp Bow Wow (586) 445-9663. Our Camp Bow Wow Home Buddies provide dog walking services at your home. We will take your dog for a 30 minute adventure around the neighborhood and will clean up after them.
